Liana Sălăgean - 24 years-old

I am a graduate of the design section of the “Romulus Ladea” Fine Arts High-School and the Industrial Design Department of the “Ioan Andeescu” Fine Arts Academy in Cluj-Napoca, where I am, currently, a second-year MA student.

I had numerous personal exhibitions and participated in collective exhibitions in my native country as well as abroad. I took part in various art competitions with works from different artistic domains, i.e. painting on canvas, glass, and wood, graphics, sculpting, photography, drawing, graphic and object design, and not least, more recently, jewelry design. 

I have a longstanding passion for jewelry and a strong desire to learn the technology behind metalworking. In 2005, I received a studio scholarship from the “Ioan Andreescu” Fine Arts Academy, which allowed me to learn this craft partially in Macerta, Italy. There, I made the first steps in metalworking, melting, casting, soldering, polishing, etc. Ever since, I have continued to learn and work in the field of art jewelry.

All my pieces of jewelry are personally designed and created in my workshop in Cluj-Napoca.

The jewelry is made of various materials, such as silver, copper, brass, or alpaca, some of them in combination with different stones, glass, wood, as well as many unconventional materials for this domain.

The purpose of the jewelry I make is to reflect the personality of the individual who wears it and to make him/her more special because of its appearance and shape, and not necessarily because of the preciousness of the material. 

In general, this jewelry is designed for those, who appreciate art and beauty, and it is remarkable by its ideas, esthetic, personal style, originality, technique, materials, and finish.

With this jewelry, I have tried to create genuine works of art in miniature.
